What is Venue at Dinkytown?

It’s a high-quality Minneapolis apartment community designed especially with University of Minnesota students in mind. Venue features a variety of spacious, furnished apartments plus a full set of community features such as a 24-hour fitness center, heated parking garage and street-level retail, all just two blocks from campus.

Is Venue at Dinkytown part of the University of Minnesota?

Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?

You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

What are per-person contracts?

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Venue at Dinkytown has their own individual contract, with one person per bed space. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.

What is included in the rent?

Each resident at Venue at Dinkytown pays a flat rate that includes:

  • Furnishings
  • Flat-panel TV with AppleTV included
  • High-speed Internet
  • Water/sewer
  • Trash removal
  • Community features – fitness center, yoga studio, etc.

What size are the apartments at Venue at Dinkytown?

The spacious accommodations at Venue at Dinkytown range from studios to 4-bedroom apartments. All of the apartments have a private bathroom for each bedroom, except the 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom and 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom floorplans.

Are the apartments furnished?

Yes, all apartments at Venue at Dinkytown have a furniture package that includes a full-size XL bed, two storage dressers, desk and chair in each bedroom, plus a loveseat, couch, coffee table, entertainment stand in each living room with counter stools in the kitchen. When do the contracts start and end?

The standard term is August 26, 2023 to August 09, 2024, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Other alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff. Click here for a sample agreement.

Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?

Within 7 days after a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to do one of two things: provide a qualifying guarantor (often a parent), or pre-pay the final 2 installments.

Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Venue at Dinkytown also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Will my financial aid cover charges at Venue at Dinkytown?

Your living costs at Venue at Dinkytown can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Venue at Dinkytown. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Is Venue at Dinkytown open to non-students?

Nearly all the residents at Venue at Dinkytown are students at the University of Minnesota. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Nonetheless, Venue at Dinkytown is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students. Family members are welcome as well, subject to occupancy limits. Because of the need to match student roommates, non-students must apply together with enough roommates to fill the desired residence.

What kind of safety and security are provided?

Venue at Dinkytown has fire sprinklers, plus electronic locks and individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also on-site 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?

Venue at Dinkytown is a no-pets community. The community is smoke-free in all indoor and adjacent areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.

Can I park my vehicle at Venue at Dinkytown?

Venue offers the option of secured, heated underground parking for an additional charge.

What other transportation options will I have?

Venue is just a one block from to the Campus Circulator and Metro Transit bus stops. The Campus Circulator runs every 10 to 20 minutes, starting at 7am weekdays and 9:30am weekends, continuing until midnight on Sunday through Wednesday nights and until 2am on Thursday through Saturday nights. The Metro Transit light rail East Bank Station is also just a 15-minute walk away, in the center of the U of M campus.
